Chapter Two
Tuesday, 1st of December 1998.

"This is Toby Sanders of Z-Rock radio telling you to wake up!"
Glen put his head up from the pillow.
"Yes wake your asses up and get your ass to work! It is eighteen degrees out there in this frigid morning."

Glen looked at the alarm clock to see that it was 6:45 am. He would wake up to the alarm clock set on the radio to his favorite station 102.7 Z-Rock. One of the very few rock stations in De...

Chapter One

Sunday June 28, 1998

It would be a hot Sunday in the Detroit suburb of Roseville. The Gods of Michigan weather had smiled upon its residents who wanted a nice sunny day. That they got, but what some people did not want was an awfully hot day, especially at twelve minutes past seven in the evening.

Tom Floyd, an unhappily married man of two reaching the age of forty six was in his red 1993 Buick Skylark, leaving the exit of the parking lot of ...

Dead Body Cats

Floating, bloated and full

  of dark slime.

    Dead body cats swimming

      leisurely like a

fat man in a tiny pool

          Grotesquely stretched out

            for the sun to ...

Suing a Deity

Author's Note:  Rated PG.  (So you guys have been funny lately.  I can do funny.)

The courtroom hummed. A hundred private and hushed conversations overlapped, as people adjusted their belongings, staked out their seats and prematurely opined on the outcome of my case.  A few snatches of gossip stung my ears, as the whisperers suggested that I didn’t stand a chance, yet none seemed to doubt the validity of my claims.  Voices sw...

Ok, so here's me and my weird sense of humour again, but this time it's all the fault of Neville Harvey.............................singalonga Queen to the tune of Bohemian Rhapsody - there ARE no prizes!

Nathan, this one's for you and the gang.

I want some real rice

Not just the basmati

Bring me the naan bread

Don’t forget the lambjalfrezi

Open some wine

I don’t want a cup of...

Talking To Crows

"It's been going on for years. It started when I was a small child. My first words were directed at them, although my parents I'm sure assumed my speach was directed at them instead. I've never really come out and told people about this, until now, and excluding my therapist of course. She says it's an attachment from chilhood that was never sluffed off, like a teddy bear, or some imaginary friend. She just doesn't know. No-one knows but me really. They only converse with me.

Jonathon's Exuvium

Leaving the car at the trailhead, Jonathon shouldered his daypack and began hiking the steep, wooded path. He had walked this trail four or fives times a year in his youth, but now in his prime, he came only during the spring and fall.

Serpentine Trail, located along a ridge of the Cascade Mountains in Oregon, snaked its way through head-high fern and old-growth fir and cedar. Jonathon paused after a couple miles, flicked his tongue in ...

Sorry, I'm Busy Tonight

Unit C12-Rom, nicknamed Romeo, awoke with a startled whir, both eyes blinking sporadically. He always slept, or more precisely assumed Standby Mode, in a vertical position, usually in a corner of the room. No electrical outlet was necessary, C models from C10 forward required none; they were equipped with wireless recharging: a fifty foot distance from any electrical source was adequate.

Romeo was flat on his back in an upstairs hallway of a sorority house. Bot...

Little Panhan'l Town

From the time I

Was hatched and weaned

I’ve lived in mostly

Small, itty-bitty towns

You know the sort

One station and a store

A few fancy homes

And the rest kinda poor

There was one though

That I was partial too

A little refinery town

Where the men worked

Most all their lives

In and out the main gate

Making jet fuel and lighter fluid,

Gasoline and ammonia nitrate
