With one sheet of paper
And colored pencils too
I rely on memory
To draw a sketch of you
In just a few strokes
A faint ghost appears
An angel of beauty
That rolls back the years
Your hair gently flowing
With a hint of breeze
Ears, nose and chin are
Quickly drawn with ease
The smile I draw always
Brightens up my day
Lips full and lovely as
If it were yesterday
The eyes will say and tell
Which will it be today
I give my hand freedom
To let come what may
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
A moment to reflect
My tear falls to the page
Quickly it is blotted
Ahh. Our love grows with age
To fate or destiny
The reasons are not few
Searching for your image
Then on I continue
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
How your eyes do sparkle
I add a pastel green
For one captured moment
To me so long unseen
A lightened shade of red
Brings forth a rosy cheek
With here and there a touch
My recall is complete
I take a final look
It takes me back in time
Life and youth together
we shared love sublime
I place upon the flames
My simple sketch of you
The image is consumed
But not my love for you
